We were able to provide the following books to the kindergarten class:
The first book, donated by MOEF, was Brown Bear Brown Bear by Bill Martin Jr, illustrated by Eric Carle.
The second round was a Dr. Seuss book donated by Kevin Jones!
The third book was from scholastics, chosen by the children themselves!
The final book of the year for the summer read was Big Cat, LittleCat, a book by Elisha Cooper. This book was made possible through a generous donation from the Wishnie family.
We look forward to continuing this program in the 2021-2022 school year.
The process
Currently, MOEF delivers four hardcover, beautifully illustrated books per year to each student in kindergarten, to help grow libraries in the home. The goal is to support a love of reading through book ownership.
how can you make a difference?
Help grow the program! Each year the size of the current kindergarten class varies, and this impacts our ability to provide books. In addition, this is a program we would love to grow to include grades K-2 and provide books four times a year for those grades. Please consider a donation to grow this literacy initiative.
